10 Travel Tips for the Maldives

The soft white sand, crystal clear waters and amazing service on offer at Kuredu Resort Maldives makes it a dream destination for almost any traveller. To make the most of your time in paradise it’s a good idea to come prepared, so here are some great tips to help with your holiday planning:
What is the luggage allowance for the seaplane? The scenic 45-minute seaplane flight from Malé is a fantastic way to kick start your adventure. There is a 20kg luggage allowance for your main bag, even if your international flight has a greater allowance.
Do I need to bring an adapter? Across the Maldives the UK-style 3 pin plug is used, so if you are coming from mainland Europe or elsewhere in the world you are likely to need an adapter.
Which sun protection should I use? The sun in the Maldives is hot and powerful and we recommend all guests use a sun protection – rash guards are a great choice when swimming and snorkelling; for lotions we recommend at least SPF of 30. To protect the fragile reef systems that surround the islands, we also request that guests use a reef-friendly sun lotion wherever possible.
What currency is used on the island? At Kuredu prices are shown in US Dollars, and this is the main currency used at the resort. We also accept Euros and Pound Sterling, along with major credit cards.
Plan ahead by downloading the Kuredu App before arrival With so much on offer it can be hard to choose what to do so to make the most of your time by researching all the things there are to do. Use Kuredu’s App to plan ahead and book activities prior to your arrival if you wish – you can even complete check-in online using the App! Your friends and family can use Kuredu Gifts to treat you to special occasion surprises or wedding gifts – ensure you drop enough hints
PADI e-Learning: The Maldives is famous for the outstanding diving on offer, and if you have never dived before then this is the perfect place to learn. Dive courses often require you to do a bit of theory work as well as the fun stuff in the water, and the PADI e-Learning system enables you to complete the theory in the comfort of your own home before you travel, allowing you have more free time during your stay.
Should I bring my own diving and snorkelling equipment? Our Prodivers Dive Center has everything you will need, from snorkelling masks and fins to the whole range of equipment for scuba diving. Our recommendation is to travel light and hire what you need when you arrive – the professional dive team will ensure a proper fit so you can simply enjoy what the underwater world has to offer.
Are beach towels provided?Yes! Leave the bulky items at home, we provide towels for use at the beach, pool, excursions and in your bungalow.
What is the dress code? Here at Kuredu the vibe is casual tropical and you’ll need whatever makes you comfortable, but leave the high heels at home – flips flops are fine! Swimwear, shorts, tops and maybe a couple of dresses – packing for Kuredu is easy!
What is the local language? The local language is Dhivehi and learning a few words and phrases can be a fun way to prepare for your travels – it’s not a necessity though as we have a multilingual team at Kuredu.
