Earth Day 2018
On Sunday, April 22nd, Kuredu Resort recognised International Earth Day 2018, the world’s largest environmental movement. Earth Day 2018 is focused on reducing plastic pollution, an issue that is very important to the team on Kuredu due to the impact it can have on the amazing environment around the resort.
On Sunday the team members on Kuredu joined together to organise an island clean, helping to remove plastic waste from the resort. Whilst plastic use is a global problem, and one that will only be solved if tackled at a global level, it is important for everyone to do their bit. This is why over the last few years Kuredu have replaced plastic water bottles with reusable glass ones, stopped using single use plastic bags from our boutiques around the island and are in the process of phasing out single use plastic straws. Guests will now also find special linen bags in their villas, so that it is easier for them to take any plastic waste home with them, where recyclcing oportuntites may be avilable.
We have also made a number of changes in our back of house to try and minimise the amount of waste (plastic or otherwise) produced by the island and are committed to reducing any environmental impact the resort has on the local, and wider environment. This includes the dedicated beach clean team, who every day help remove rubbish that washes up on our beautiful beaches.
