Turtle Kuredu Resort Maldives

Dear Guests,

The month of May at Kuredu has been remarkable – not only for long sunny days and the many happy holidays we have hosted, but for celebrating our resident turtle population. World Turtle Day on 23rd May is always extra special here as we have the largest community of green sea turtles in the Maldives residing at our reef and dining on our seagrass meadows – a staggering 20% of the Maldives green turtles call Kuredu their home! All seven species of sea turtles in the world are classified as endangered so to have such a thriving population on our doorstep is incredible and if you dream of adventures that involve swimming with turtles, Kuredu is definitely the place for you. Emily at the Marine Biology Center is looking forward to introducing you to the turtles on your next visit – you can pre-book a snorkelling session with her via our app.

The turtles have been keeping Emily, along with volunteer helpers from our team as well as guests, busy over the past couple of months – it’s been the main nesting season and I am pleased to report that from a total of 9 nests laid on the island, there were 750 hatchlings that made it safely to the ocean. These little ones now have the biggest challenge of their lives – to survive to adulthood, only about 1 in a 1000 achieve this – let’s keep our fingers crossed that some of them make it and return to Kuredu when they are older.

As we move into June we can still expect plenty of sunshine and look forward to sharing some new excursions with you – you can never have too many new and exciting adventures at Kuredu! June will also see us mark World Environment Day and World Oceans Day – two very important events in the global conservation calendar and two causes very close to our hearts at the resort.

International travel continues to be a challenge for many of you and I’d like to reassure you that our procedures, as well as those in operation on arrival in the country, continue to place the safety of guests and team members at top priority. Our vaccination program continues to go well and adds to the peace of mind of both our guests and team.

The rest of the team and I are ready to welcome you and will make sure your holiday with us has been worth waiting for – be sure to check the special offers page on our website for the latest deals. In the meantime, I wish you and your loved ones all the very best,

Sincerely,

Yavuz
