Kuredu celebrates International Women’s Day
All around the world, International Women’s Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.
Each year, International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March and the first IWD was held in 1911. Thousands of events occur around the world to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organizations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women’s groups, corporations, and the media celebrate the day.
Various organizations identify their own International Women’s Day theme specific to their local environment and interests. Many charities, non-government organizations, and governments also adopt a relevant theme or campaign to mark the day. For example, organizations like the United Nations, Oxfam, Women for Women, World Association of Girl Guides and many more run exciting and powerful campaigns that raise awareness, and in the case of the charities, encourage donations for a good cause.
So, what about Kuredu? There are 105 women working in various departments of the resort, from 16 different nationalities. The longest serving, with over thirteen years’ service, are: Sabine at Prodivers, Hajja at the O Restaurant and Helen in Housekeeping.
On Friday, 6th March, a special exclusive Ladies Night was held in the Team Village with mocktails, dinner, a showing of the movie ‘The Other Woman’, starring Cameron Diaz, and lots of gifts and prizes. This was Kuredu’s way of saying a very big “thank you” for all your hard work, passion and loyalty to the Resort. May there be many more celebrations of International Women’s Day over the years at Kuredu Resort & Spa.
