Department Insight: Kuredu Kitchen
Kuredu’s Department of the Month, Kitchen, is a team of 130 specialists who certainly live by the saying that the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. Executive Chef Paul King and his Team cook, roast, braise, steam and grill every day to make our guests’ and our Team Members’ taste buds and hearts jump for joy.
The four pillars of the Kitchen Department are Executive Chef Paul, Assistant Executive Chef Naresh, Senior Sous Chef Zahir and Head Pastry Chef Ushan. These culinary wizards and their Kitchen, Stewarding, Greenhouse and Water Bottling Plant Teams bring to our plates delicious, energy-boosting and healthy dishes that not only satiate our hunger, but also prove that you can have a taste of home even in the remotest of places.
What’s more, the Kitchen Department regularly showcase their talents and skills at various national and international competitions. Last August, all 7 Team Members who participated in the Food and Hospitality Asia Maldives 2015 Expo returned home with 7 medals: 4 bronze, 1 silver and 2 gold.
Having said that, the Resort is extremely proud to have such an amazing Kitchen Department. All of us who work here and all guests of Kuredu’s buffet and à la carte restaurants will agree that both the variety and quality of food are incredible; yet the recipes in themselves have no soul – it is Kuredu’s cooks who bring soul to the recipes!
