Playing golf is certainly one of the most popular things to do at Kuredu. Boasting the Maldives’ first course (for the initiated: it’s a 6-hole par 3 with the average length of a hole being 55 yards; there’s also a full-size driving range), many of the resort’s guests devote a couple of hours of their holiday at the resort to learning or perfecting their game. One of the skilled team members of the Kuredu Golf Club is also Ibrahim Aiwan, Golf Supervisor – and this month’s Kuredu Celebrity.

Aiwan, who joined the resort in 2005 as Golf Attendant, and is originally from the local island of Hinnavaru, has been gaining knowledge and perfecting his skills throughout these years with the help from resident golf pros and especially colleague Monty, and has become an excellent player (best score: -5(13))! and teacher himself.

In addition to his duties in the Club, thanks to Aiwan’s love of sports and enthusiasm for organising events he was also Kuredu’s Sports President for a whopping five years.

While Aiwan was also working at two of Kuredu’s sister resorts in the past, there’s no place he’d rather be: ‘ The island gives me the feeling of my home. I will never leave Kuredu. Staff facilities are excellent, ties with guests, especially repeaters, are really close and we get so many opportunities to build our careers. In general, the management and the owners look after us very well.’
