Marine Biology at Kuredu’s Marine Center
The marine life around Kuredu Resort Maldives is incredible, offering the chance for you to snorkel and scuba dive with amazing fish life, turtles and, during the season, manta rays. Seeing these creatures in their natural environment is a big highlight for many of our guests, and to be able to provide a better experience and to continue to help conserve, protect and understand the natural environment that the island is situated in, Kuredu has its very own Marine Center.
Established in cooperation with the resort, Prodivers and the Olive Ridley Project, the marine center is the go-to venue for information on turtles, as well as a research institution whose findings feed into the important work of the Olive Ridley Project. Marine biologist Emily is always very happy for guests to visit her at the marine center as well as join her on snorkel tours to find turtles.
Kuredu has one of the healthiest populations of green sea turtles in the country, and turtles are seen daily in our lagoon areas, as well as on snorkel and dive trips to Kuredu Caves – a renowned site where turtles rest, get cleaned and interact. Be sure to visit the so-called Turtle Airport (Caves) during your next holiday at Kuredu, and visit Emily to learn more about the sleepyheaded sea turtles that call Kuredu home!
